Wolf's Apple Rack Demonstrate multiplication arrays by setting the number of rows and columns and clicking and dragging fruit to fill the shelves. TESiboard activity.
Math Magician Using this timed program, student practice facts, selecting from addition, subtraction, multiplication & division. You can specify exact facts to practice. Example: practice +3 addition facts, 20 questions in 1 minute.
Repeated Sets - Teaching Version Choose the number of bags and pieces of fruit per bag to solve multiplication problems using repeated sets. Sticky notes cover the products which can be revealed to check the answers. TESiboard activity. A timed, game version of this activity is also available.
Sharing Out Frogs Choose a number of lily pads and frogs. Share the frogs amongst the lily pads so they are equally distributed. TESiboard activity. Also try a similar teaching tool, Sharing Out UFOs.
Quotient Cafe Select a food and characters to practice division with remainders. Use dividends from 1-500 and divisors from 1-50. As the food is doled out, students explore partial quotients ("chunking") in a long division problem, recording each step of the problem as they go. Press the calculator icon at lower left for help with calculations. NCTM.
Perimeter Practice Using the exercises provided, practice calculating perimeter.
Area and Perimeter Find the area and perimeter of rectangles.
Measurement Workshop Using the "build" option, select a mode (whole numbers, whole and half numbers, decimals, or fractions), then click on the preferred type of measurement (imperial or metric) and use rulers to build a ruler city. In "play" mode, the buildings are created by the computer and players must measure them. Watch an instructional video here.
Polyominoes Use virtual tile to create designs and patterns and explore area. Click on Instructions for general information. Uses Java.
